Daniel Woolf, appointed as our Chief Data Officer, Seerave Fellow

We promised to ‘Get on with it’ in 2024, and today we have an exciting announcement as we welcome Daniel Woolf as our newly appointed Chief Data Officer.

Daniel joins the charity to lead on the design and delivery of our whole data strategy. This will underpin the promise we make to our users and wider movement in relation to all aspects of how we manage data and deploy it to deliver the best possible outcomes for users of Cancer Platform. Daniel’s role (referred to as a Seerave Fellow), is made possible thanks to a transformational donation and collaboration with Seerave Foundation.

Daniel brings over 20 years of experience leading digital transformation programmes across numerous data and technology disciplines within the NHS. His work delivering modern data platforms founded on a culture of collaboration and innovation has been hugely successful, leading to service improvement across the health sector. More recently, his expertise in data and analytics has been recognised with awards for his application of novel data, AI, and automation techniques, to long-standing health care challenges across England.

On joining, Daniel Woolf said, “The opportunities for Cancer Platform are immense, and I am genuinely excited by the potential for positive disruption and innovation. Developing a platform built using high-quality, trusted information can directly improve cancer outcomes for all and aligns perfectly with my passion to use data for good. I am thrilled to work alongside the expertise at Cancer Awareness Trust and Seerave Foundation and with partners globally to collaborate in delivering real change. By empowering everyone affected by cancer, we can make a truly positive impact on the world.”

"The Seerave Foundation firmly believes that data will play a pivotal role as a centrepiece of the Cancer Platform, guiding us toward the envisioned future. The intricacies of navigating the data landscape in the healthcare sector are notably challenging, given the highly vulnerable and sensitive information required for obtaining personalised insights. Daniel's extensive experience within the rigorously regulated healthcare sector, coupled with his remarkably creative ideas within established boundaries, fills us with great excitement as we welcome him on board to continue this transformative journey." Seerave Foundation.

Founder, Prof. Sir Chris Evans adds, “I am excited to see Daniel join the team and get going with our incredible partnership with Seerave Foundation and new Founder, David Rees. We know that trust is a crucial element to get right if we are to deliver on our promise to people living with cancer, and this role will drive that part of our mission. It’s a fundamental part of our strategy and appointing Daniel to the role is a big and important step forward for Cancer Awareness Trust. Welcome Daniel.”
