Our Ambassadors

Our Ambassadors are all incredible people with lived experience of cancer. They work with us to help shape and refine our platform while we help more people discover their stories in the hope they provide inspiration and support for their own cancer journey.

Nina Lopes

Nina Lopes became our first official Ambassador back in November 2022, but has been with us throughout our development journey, helping to shape the needs of the platform. Nina very much embodies the empowered, educated and informed cancer platform user we aspire to make all of our users, but this has been no small feat. Nina shares our passion to ease the experiences of others in the future, by empowering people on their cancer journey.

Through her own self built network, Nina has and continues to share responsibly every step of her cancer path with her followers. Her aim is simple; to inspire others through her own journey and to share her research findings including potential options for her specific type of cancer.

Nina is currently undergoing a clinical trial and we’ve played a small role in supporting Nina throughout her journey. From fundraising for her trek across the Sahara, to performing vocals on our, ‘This Christmas Time’ single. Nina is very much part of the family and we’re incredibly grateful and humbled by her support.

Keep your eyes out for projects we have planned and be sure to follow Nina’s across her own socials

Andy Taylor

In November 2022, Duran Duran guitarist and founding band member Andy Taylor revealed he had been diagnosed with incurable stage four metastatic prostate cancer in a letter read aloud by the band at their Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction. The cancer diagnosis meant Andy had to miss what would have been one of the highlights of his life, but it also opened a world of support for his cancer journey.

Through the support able to be provided by our Co-founder Sir Chris and the team of experts he’s brought together through The Cancer Awareness Trust, they quickly identified a number of ways they could, and since have, significantly improved Andy’s prognosis and journey.

Since his diagnosis, Andy has been vocal about the challenge he’s faced trying to find expert, trusted and specific information to help make informed decisions about his cancer. Information that would help him to assess his options, to know of available testing and how this could make a difference to his journey.

It was through this experience that Andy saw the challenges those affected by cancer face, when trying to access trust information quickly and the need for the Cancer Platform.

Since then Andy has proudly become one of our Ambassadors, currently supporting as Executive Producer on an Evamore album project, working with the team to inform the platforms development and helping to raise awareness of prostate cancer.

The Men’s VMU

Co-founded in October 2020, by breast cancer ‘thriver’ Doug Harper and health psychologist Dr Kerry Quincey, The Men’s Virtual Meet-Up (VMU) is an organisation for men diagnosed with breast cancer, allowing them to feel seen and to know that they are not alone.

The organisation hosts monthly meetings on Zoom that offer a place to talk openly and share lived experiences. It provides a much needed support network to those impacted.

Until recently, there was very little information about the disease but The Men’s VMU have worked tirelessly with charities, NHS, clinicians, researchers, and press, to raise awareness of the disease and are passionate that this continues. The work they have done is extraordinary, but there is still a long way to go and we are delighted to be able to support them in their efforts.

Together we’ll amplify the voices of men impacted by male breast cancer, helping the organisation to reach more people looking for help. We’ve supported them to build their brand and website, and we’ll help promote their ongoing Virtual Meet Ups, while their members will play an active role in shaping Cancer Platform, sharing their experiences that will help inform the product we are creating.
