Anticancer Fund and Cancer Awareness Trust collaboration begins

We are delighted to announce our latest Founding Partner, the Brussels based international research organisation, the Anticancer Fund. Their goal is to see a world where every cancer patient can get the best possible treatment. Science is their tool and patients their guide.

They invest in the most promising research to make measurable progress in the fight against cancer, speeding up clinical implementation, addressing unmet needs and maximising the patients’ benefits. They also directly help patients through My Cancer Navigator (MCN), a personal service for people with cancer, providing understandable information about their cancer and their treatment (a free service). MCN also supports physicians and healthcare professionals who are looking for evidence-based information about cancer treatments for a specific patient.

The expert team at the Anticancer Fund will act as critical friends as we develop and deliver on our promise of the Cancer Platform, and from time to time we’ll collaborate on funded projects which bring the best of their expertise, networks and tools to our design and technical delivery of the platform. Critical friends keep us focussed on what works, what is needed and, on our promise, whilst keeping everyone safe.

Anticancer Fund Managing Director, Lydie Meheus, “We started 15 years ago with investigating numerous treatments claiming miraculous cures for cancer. As scientists, we dug for evidence all around the world without prejudgement but concluded that solid clinical evidence is seldomly there. We now focus on raising and collecting trustworthy evidence on the patient value of treatments in collaboration with clinicians, and we bring this information directly to individual patients who reach out to us. We are happy to share all our experience with the Trust’s team and we are looking forward to a fruitful collaboration, for the benefit of cancer patients.”.

Cancer Awareness Trust Founder, Prof. Sir Chris Evans comments, “Wow! I am thrilled to be joined by Lydie and the expert team at the Anticancer Fund. We have a shared goal of every cancer patient receiving the best possible treatment – that is exactly what the Cancer Platform is about. We found our Co-Founder David Rees of Seerave Foundation because of the Anticancer Fund, for which we are extremely grateful, and there is much to learn from their science and patient led approach, and significant opportunities to connect and collaborate with their My Cancer Navigator service.”.
