Recruiting Cancer Platform Head of Fundraising

We’re happy to announce a new job opportunity within the Cancer Platform team. We’re hiring a Head of Fundraising, based in London or Birmingham.

The successful candidate will help us get there quicker with the development of Cancer Platform, raising funds from philanthropists and through our partners to resource our partnerships with Founding Partners.

Full details are available on our Linkedin vacancies. Send your CV and cover letter by emailing: contact@cancerawarenesstrust.org.

Please note, the closing date for applications is Monday 19th March at 9am. The closing date might be brought forward if we identify a suitable candidate. Interviews will take place on Tuesday 26th March in person in London, or on Thursday 28th March if a Birmingham based candidate is found.

The Role

This is a fascinating opportunity to help build something special. Cancer Platform embodies a simple concept with a profound potential to make a difference to millions of lives affected by cancer. You’ll be working on a world-first tech product that cuts across the charity, commercial and health sectors, focused on using the latest technology to improve people’s cancer journeys.

Our ambition is backed and delivered in partnership with individuals and organisations from around the world, who represent the best in their field. They, as do we, believe in the power of collaboration over competition and share our ambition to create the digital tool that has a momentous impact, delivering measurably improved cancer outcomes for all.

Opportunities like this are rare. We want someone who recognises that. Someone genuinely intrigued and enthused by our vision and who wants to make a difference. You’ll have bags of experience in raising funds from philanthropists and through partnerships. You’ll want to ensure 100% of the funds raised go directly to transforming cancer outcomes.

If you have health sector experience that’s great, however, we’re not a traditional charity organisation. We are a tech company within the charity sector. We want people with diverse experience. Whilst we focus on all cancers and every stage of the cancer journey, leaning into the known inequalities in tech and cancer, this role will primarily support our work across children and young people, prostate cancer, nutrition and hereditary cancers.

Core responsibilities
You will:

  • Expand our network – our greatest asset is our global network, and you will add to it as well as mobilise those within our existing network, to support you in the fundraising goals.

  • Build the case for support from philanthropists and organisations aligned with our vision to transform cancer outcomes.

  • Secure £500,000+ to support the development of Cancer Platform and the collaborations across our movement that help us get there quicker.

  • Strengthen our partnerships with our Founding Partners by raising funds for our collaborative efforts, with a focus on those helping us to build the platform, across children and young people, prostate cancer, nutrition and hereditary cancers.

  • Support the fundraising efforts which empower our wider marketing efforts, our audience reach, through our own content and that led by our close collaborators, Ambassadors and partners.

  • Cultivate a pipeline of donors and partners who will follow us on the journey, from discovery to delivery of Cancer Platform, to the transformation of cancer outcomes.

  • Utilise our events and network, through Evamore Records, to raise further funds for our collaborative work and development of Cancer Platform.

  • Co-develop the impact framework to evidence and communicate our impact, showing how the funding has directly led to the delivery of the platform and transformation of cancer outcomes.

  • Collaborate with the wider team across marketing, partnerships, engagement, tech, data and more – everything is about building the platform, enabling us and our movement to transform cancer outcomes.

Experience/Qualifications

  • Experience and evidence of collaborating with philanthropists, securing six-figure sums, to put their funds, expertise and energy towards measurable outcomes.

  • Experience and evidence of building highly effective relationships with senior stakeholders including mission aligned organisations: conducting joint meetings, securing introductions, developing roadmaps and collaborating on stewardship.

  • Experience and evidence of managing fundraising pipelines, ensuring that there is a high level of transparency about our processes, our collaborations and impact, and communicating across our movement about current and future prospects.

  • Excellent written communication: clear and compelling letters, proposals, funding applications and email communications.

  • Engaging and adaptive speaker able to respond in the moment to the opportunity in front of you, bringing in team members to strengthen your pitch and collaborating on wins.

  • Evidence of quickly building understanding and command of complex subject matters, like those which underpin our mission to transform cancer outcomes.

Desirable

  • Experience of working with high-profile individuals.

  • Experience of working in a small organisation in a start-up phase.

  • Experience of securing six figure gifts from Trusts and Foundations.

  • Experience of working in a tech, cancer or a health-focused organisation.
