Dr Rajan Jethwa

Having held positions across the life sciences industry as a surgeon, investor and chief executive, Rajan has spent nearly 20 years building and leading successful businesses at the frontier of the sector.

His drive to develop new cancer treatments was ignited when he was a junior doctor, helping patients deal with the fallout of this disease.

In 2018, Rajan and Prof. Sir Chris co-founded the cancer drug development company, Ellipses Pharma, to focus on the development of innovative cancer medicines and treatments, with the mission of making them available to patients at unprecedented speed.

At the same time, they also co-founded Cancer Awareness Trust with the aim of creating a globally accessible, trusted and holistic digital educational resource to empower patients and their carers during their cancer journey.

At Ellipses, Rajan has developed a differentiated model in drug development that combines unbiased vetting of potential drug candidates from 300 key opinion leaders in cancer to de-risk initial drug selection and trial design with an uninterrupted flow of capital to minimise the time it takes to advance drugs through the clinical trial process and reach patients.

Rajan graduated from Cambridge University with undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in Medical Sciences and is a member of the Royal College of Surgeons of England.
